Jason, you might find Judie's last few comments interesting.

Thanks, but that's nothing new. We knew it had to be by March, since the writers need to know by then whether to keep writing new stories or to wrap up the entire series. Judie doesn't work for "Days" anyway, she works for NBC, so if Ali has the surprise news to announce on Ellen, it wouldn't mean that Judie would have gotten the news yet, since Judie doesn't work at the Burbank studio.

Is it just me, or is AS on Ellen ALL THE TIME? I feel like she's on at least once every few months.

Did NBC re-hire Judie? I thought they laid her off, and then she went to work for Corday Productions.

Yay, a "Days" fan named Carol already posted on my FB page that she gets Ellen at 9AM, so we should have the news no later than 10AM or 11AM ET (depending on what time zone she lives in).
UPDATE: Carol confirmed that her 9AM episode today was the Meryl Streep/Vanessa Hudgens episode which the rest of the country aired, so we now have confirmation that the episode she gets so early in the morning will be Ali Sweeney's episode at 9AM tomorrow. Now, I'm just waiting to hear if Carol will be able to watch the episode live or not.

She'd probably be listed in the credits if she worked for Corday Prods.

Her LinkedIn page states she works for NBC Universal:
Writer/Producer/Editor "NBC Universal"

Oh okay, looks like she was fired from NBC but works sort of as a freelance promo editor with "Days" as one of her clients.

She tweeted this on December 15:
"thank you and I did them while at NBC and now have my own company and took them back over in Oct."

She lists her job on Twitter as "CEO Valentine Productions Inc. Writer/Producer/Editor", so she just forgot to update her LinkedIn page.

So she probably has her own "studio" at her workplace and the promos are sent to her and she works on them there.

Yeah, I wasn't trying to provide new information. I thought it was interesting.

Granolagirl, I think she ended up being rehired by NBC. She was working for Corday at one point, though.

Thanks for doing so! It was interesting, and now I know that Judie no longer works for NBC but as a freelance editor of the promos, so your post helped me learn something new!! :)

I'd prefer just a year renewal or one that would guarantee a 50th anniversary. They work harder I think with pressure to produce good soap.
I totally agree with this! Make them work for it one year at a time and we get a better show.

Coming out of lurking and just started to watch again after having a delicious taste of EJABBY!

Anyway, Judie does work for the show now. She was let go by NBC a while ago in what I heard were layoffs, but Days hired her to do their promos. She's now working at the NBC Studios in Burbank since Sony owns the show, not NBC, so Days didn't vacate the lot.

You can also see Judie reference this in her 12/26 tweet.

Oh, and Ellen tapes at Warner Bros now, so their feed isn't viewable on the NBC lot like it used to.

Thanks for the info. Yeah, Ellen moved to Warner Bros. awhile back, 5 or 6 years ago. It was fun when she used to be in Burbank. She did some stuff even at the Days studios in her earliest years on the air. Jacee Jule (Frances Reid's assistant and the long-time Java Café waitress) even appeared once just being pulled out of the audience randomly. "Days" is dark this week anyway, so Judie wouldn't be at the studio this week. If she just started working for Days itself in October, that would be the reason she's not in the credits yet. She wouldn't get listed until the episodes airing in February/March (not that every person who works for Days gets listed in the credits, but with her type of job, it's a possibility they would list her).

Judie went from an NBC staffer to a freelancer who was paid by Corday Productions. So doubtful she would get listed in the credits. However, since NBC Studios in Burbank is technically just "Burbank Studios" since all the NBC people left, there is now plenty of room to bring in freelancers to work on the lot more closely with the DAYS crew.

Anyway, my personal dream about Ali's big announcement tomorrow is that she is leaving the show. Last week DAYS proved to do just fine without her on. Even if she went to recurring or backburner, that would be a dream come true! :)

Everyone in the cast and crew could be leaving the show in April, so putting aside your hopes about Ali leaving, I hope it's news about the renewal!!

I'd love for her to announce she's leaving, too, but that would be an even weirder thing to announce on Ellen. Maybe she'll announce she got a spinoff, lol.

Whatever the news is, we should be hearing from Carol, a "Days" fan who gets Ellen at 9AM CT, so we are only less than 11 hours or so from finding out what the news is, if it doesn't break elsewhere by then.
